Alternate Shelter Society
Established in 1977, the Society provides residential and support services to a population of youth variously described as "abused," "homeless," "at risk," and "behaviourally disordered". All youth come to us through the Ministry of Children and Family Development and are between the ages of twelve and eighteen, inclusive. If a youth is sent to us, it means that they have nowhere else to go. The length of their stay is dependant on how long it takes to find them a stable place to live more permanently.
